Portrait Dress - Amethyst

I was surprised when I received this dress. In the photos it appears pastel and a nice dress for spring. The dress I received is a medium dark mauve/purple color and the yellow in the photos is a medium light avocado color (not yellow at all). It's a pretty dress and will look nice in the early fall, as it is very light weight fabric. It fits well and isn't low cut on me, as it sort of appears in the photos.

This dress was a surprise to me. In the photo it appears pastel/light colored, for spring. But the dress I received is a medium dark mauve purple and the yellow in the photo is a light avocado green, not yellow at all. I like it, though. It will work for fall, as it is more fall-like colors. The fabric is very light, so will have to be early fall. Others have said the pattern on the sides of the skirt makes them look slimmer, but I think it makes me look a bit more full in the hips. So, it's pretty, but just not the dress I was expecting based on the photos. It seems the dresses are usually darker than pictured, so need to keep that in mind when ordering.

Dress fits beautifully. Drapes in a flattering way. Perfect length. Love everything about it.

It's a beautiful dress, very comfy and light. Unless you are a bit daring, it will require a slip. I am very happy!

First let me say this I love all of April Cornell’s dresses. I have an ileostomy so wearing pants is near impossible. When I found April Cornell dresses I fell in love with them. This dress fits beautifully. It is true to size. The material has a sturdy yet airy feel. I will say the color is darker than the picture but still beautiful. The patchwork detailing is flattering to the body. I was worried that it would make me look bigger or shorter but it did the exact opposite. I love this dress.

I tried this on and was surprised that it made me look less wide somehow. I didn’t initially notice from the photos, but the purple-pink rectangle underneath the bust is surrounded by the blocks of pattern on both sides and beneath, so it gives a petite apron effect. I also noticed that section tapers inward toward the upper bust seam, giving more of a hourglass shape. I really love the bust seam on this.
